If you want to learn more about a location, what better way than walking around a place with someone telling you the history of it.
There is a wealth of history in North East Lincolnshire and my tours include Grimsby, Cleethorpes, Healing, Scartho, and Waltham. Tours are guided and last approximately two hours.
Look out for the public dates on my Facebook or Eventbrite pages. If you can not find a public tour date then why not book me for a private group tour. Perfect for membership groups, schools, or for a family or a group of friends. For private tours there must be a minimum of seven people for the tour to proceed.
Grimsby tours
These tours take in the town centre. There are five different walks available, but they can be varied:
- the town centre exploring the main streets, the buildings and how the town developed (Grimsby Streets)
- Abbey Road and the history of these grand Victorian houses and some of the people who lived there (Discovering Abbey Road/Discovering Wellow)
- focusing around The Haven and Alexandra Dock, and how these helped shape the economy of the town from the early settlers to present day (Grimsby’s Water: From The Haven to the docks)
- Learn more about the ghostly goings on and the gruesome tales in Grimsby (Grimsby’s Gruesome past)
- Find out more about the people in the graveyard (Tales from the Grave) COMING SOON 2026

Cleethorpes tour
This resort, which sits on the Humber estuary and not beside the sea, was born in the Victorian age. Learn about its earlier roots when it was three fishing hamlets. Find out why people born there are called Meggies, and how the railways shaped the resort we know today.
Healing tours
The village we see today was built in the late Victorian period and is credited to the developer Henry Marrows. It was the first ‘garden village’ to be be built in Lincolnshire. You can choose from three tours.
- The Henry Marrows tour explores his life and we see the many houses he constructed in the village, including one for himself and his daughters as they married. Also explore some of the other houses and people in the village including the Loft and Portman families. (Discovering Healing).
- The Healing Manor estate tour looks at the part it has played in the village, and the families who lived there including the Portman family – who own most of London – and the Yarborough family, who are connected to the area through their Brocklesby seat (Discovering Healing Manor).
